Myself (Brandon) and my wife Laura run GetAway Bay. We bought the resort in December of 2005. I have been vacationing in this area since I was seven years old and have loved it since I was a kid. Shortly after meeting Laura, I introduced her to the lake and surrounding area. We started dreaming shortly after that of moving here and raising our kids. After 10 years of the corporate world grind in lower Michigan we managed to make that dream a reality with the purchase of the resort.

About Brandon I enjoy everything the outdoors has to offer. From wilderness backpacking in the Porkies, to spring turkey hunting, bow, muzzleloader, and firearm deer hunting, chasing some partridge (grouse for those of you downstate), stream fishing for trout, hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and duck hunting. If it’s outside, I want to learn more about it and spend as much time doing it as possible.

About Laura I began wilderness backpacking with Brandon soon after we met. He has been slowly turning me into an outdoors woman ever since. I am now obsessed with turkey hunting and duck hunting is following. I even have a toteful of my own hunting clothes now! (Although finding adequate women’s hunting attire is difficult.) You may even see me hiking through the woods on a pair of snowshoes with the kids. It’s hard to live up here and not love being outside.

Mike and Cathy (Brandon’s Parents) are the reason we are all living at Gogebic. They have been visiting the area for over 25 years now and some day might consider retiring up here. For now they are content to be living and working in the area they dreamed of moving to for so long.
